a tattoo lasts forever… so can the experience
Tattooists, and the industry in general, often overlook how the service experience affects clients. Unsafe environments, poor health practices, power imbalances, or trauma activation can turn a tattoo from a beautiful piece of art into a forever trigger of a negative memory.
Tattooing is intimate and collaborative; it is a creative process that alters your appearance for life. Your trust will always be honoured at Moonlit Fangs. Running a client-focused practice & enacting our trauma-informed training, aims to ensure that clients will love both the artwork and the experience.
land & historical acknowledgements
Acknowledgment of the Indigenous origins and history of tattooing is critical; without these sacred and symbolic roots, this art form would not exist. Moonlit Fangs Tattoo holds deep gratitude for the Indigenous peoples who not only founded and fostered this art-form, but for all of the sacrifices they have made in preserving their ancestral techniques, motifs and patterns that colonialism sought to erase.
Moonlit Fangs Tattoo operates two shops in so-called Canada. Cranbrook, BC, which is truly ʔa·kisḱaqǂiʔit, belongs to the Ktunaxa & Kinbasket people. Camrose, AB, is the land of the Treaty 6 territory comprising of the Maskwacis Nêhiyawak, Niitsitapi, Nakoda, and Tsuutʼina Nations, as well as the Métis. It is crucial to acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of Indigenous nations, for they are the ones who cared for, upheld, and made sacrifices for, these lands, their homelands, since time immemorial. The artist & owner holds deep gratitude and admiration for these nations. They know that a land acknowledgment does not absolve them of the responsibility of continued anti-colonial practices, yet it is still an important step in the crucial road of reconciliation.
